Why librarians beat the enchantment table
The enchantment table gives random enchantments at random levels, and the anvil punishes you for combining low-level books. Librarian villagers sell specific max-level books (Sharpness V, Mending, Protection IV and more) for emeralds plus a book. Every book you buy this way is fresh - zero prior work penalty - which is the ideal input for the calculator's solver.
How to reroll a librarian's trades
- Place a lectern next to an unemployed villager to turn them into a librarian.
- Check the lectern's first enchanted-book trade. If it is not what you want, break the lectern and place it again - this rerolls the trade (before you trade once).
- Trade once with the librarian to lock the trade permanently; after that it never changes.
- Repeat until you have one librarian per enchanted book you need.
Lowering prices (and curing)
Convert a villager to a zombie villager and cure it (splash potion of Weakness + golden apple) to permanently discount its prices, often down to 1 emerald per book. Stack this with Hero of the Village to buy whole god sets for a handful of emeralds.
